I have been working as a birth doula for over 20 years, having served many families from all walks of life. The common theme thus far has been this: every woman deserves a beautiful birth...or as ideal as circumstances allow. Every woman has the strength to have an empowering birth. I believe that birth is a normal, natural physiological process; my job as your doula is to help you facilitate that process. It sounds simple, because it is! I support all of my clients through whatever type of birth they wish to have, whether that be natural at home or via scheduled C-section in a hospital. What matters most to me is that you are well informed of all of your choices, and that you feel supported every step of the way.
When you hire me as your doula, you will receive:
Preparation and education are the key to a beautiful birth. Books and childbirth classes are a great beginning, but private coaching from your doula can be the difference between truly understanding and applying the information, and missing key elements. My standard fee includes 3-4 prenatal appointments. These appointments may take place in your home or another venue such as a lactation group. Each appointment is tailored to the specific needs of each mother and/or her partner, but I will share with you:

I am a certified DONA birth doula, experienced in all aspects of pregnancy and birth, as well as all types of birth. I provide birth doula support for:
Birth Center births
Unmedicated and medicated births
I am available to my clients for 6 weeks postpartum via phone/text and email. My standard fee also includes one in-person follow-up visit, where I usually answer any questions about your birth, as well as breastfeeding, your new baby, and the postpartum period. If you are interested in more hands on help, I also offer postpartum doula services at a separate rate. Should you choose to encapsulate your placenta (highly recommended!) through my affiliate San Diego Placenta Services, I can also hand deliver your placenta & pills with no need to wait for a third party pick-up or drop off.
Support is a major part of breastfeeding success. I encourage all of my mothers to attend at least one breastfeeding group before they give birth.
